Description

Tallinn University (TU) Haapsalu College and Telemark University College have similar values in curricula and we would add our nation’s cultural background as an input into the design process. The aim is to integrate old traditions, techniques with innovation and modern approaches through mobility. TU Department of Choreography and The Norwegian Council for Traditional Music and Dance will cooperate in the field of teaching traditional dance and using traditional knowledge in contemporary choreographic production. The aim is to share know-how and enhance quality of education through staff mobility. TU Institute of Political Science and Governance and the University of Bergen cooperate on research project “DIMA”, project No. EMP138. The mobility will increase cooperation quality and allow to present results on the 9th Biennial Congress of the International Academy for Intercultural Research. The expected outcome is a developing learning environment, also partnerships will be developed.

Summary of project results

The project between University of Bergen and Tallinn University was needed in order to facilitate and support cooperation and face-to-face (as opposed to Skype and email) cooperation and communication between the two project teams in Estonia and Norway, working on the common research project “Determinants of inclusive integration context”. The project contained extensive theoretical analysis, thus in order to provide maximum involvement of project parties in the discussion of theoretical framework, as well as design of relevant survey instruments to be used within the project. At the same time, since the context plays a crucial role in current project design, one of the mobilities within current project was necessary in order to conduct pilot background data collection in Norway in order to ensure better understanding of Norwegian context by Estonian research team, to be taken into consideration in work on the project. The project was needed in order to support participation of specialists working on the research project DIMA in the annual conference of International Association of Intercultural Research, which brings together the key specialists in research of inter-ethnic and intercultural relations. Participation and presentation of project ideas and results plays a crucial role in promoting the project ideas, as well as enacting discussion to further develop the theoretical ideas and practical approach to their research.

Summary of bilateral results

The cooperation with University of Bergen was smooth and concse. Project partner institution representative, who is also the project partner, was available during the mobility days, which provided a lot of opportunity for productive communication and cooperation. The project partner institution provided the necessary facilities and resources for implementation of activities, as well as access to library and university, thus creating the environment for fruitful cooperation. The cooperation with Telemark University College was constructive and effective. Our students got all support they needed on site. They had a contact person who helped to the utmost. We had also very fruitful collaboration with The Foundation Norwegian Council for Traditional Music and Dance. They published two web-articles (in Norwegian) of the visit to Trondheim and the return visit to Tallin: Estisk danselærerutvekslingsbesøk del II http://www.folkemusikkogfolkedans.no/index.php/2015-07-31-09-06-08/fors… ; Estisk danselærerutvekslingsbesøk http://www.folkemusikkogfolkedans.no/index.php/2015-07-31-09-06-08/fors…
