Description

The project aims at prevention of accidents and injuries in early childhood. In order to fulfill the goal, a target group (kindergarten children aged 3-6 years, their parents and teachers) will be provided with a comprehensible and accessible information campaign. The target group will be shown how to behave in case of emergency, what to do and what not to do, by communication means appropriate to the age-group. There will be created a website, which will consist of all the project outcomes, such as animated cartoons, documents, worksheets and others. The main target group is children aged 3 to 6 years. The secondary target group is the parents and teachers.

Summary of project results

In spite of decreases over the last 20 years, injury remains the leading cause of child death and disability in the Czech Republic. The goal of this project was to reduce the incidence and consequences of childhood injuries in the day-to-day life (= the aim is to teach children, to show them in their language the possible risks that they normally lurk at home, in the kindergarten, on the pitch, on the visit, in the OC etc. and show them how to properly preserve or provide help that they can manage at their age. The goal was achieved. Videos were created with individual danger ranges, with a total of 13 videos. The videos are freely available on the public website www.jezkovyvoci.info, which has been set up . For easier work with the materials and education of the target group, educational materials were created both for children in colouring and for adults (teachers from kindergartens or family members). In total, 13 and 13 freely downloadable pdf documents were created for each target group. Because we know how important a communication campaign is, campaigns for FB, YouTube and selected news media (CT, TV Prima, ČRo 2) have been selected for our purposes. Direct direct mailing campaign with direct distribution to selected 5000 kindergartens in the Czech Republic was chosen very well. In the direct mailing set, each Nursery received an A2 poster with a project motif, 20 stickers and a personal letter to the director. In the letter, the Director was informed of the entire project where she found it and the possibility of her inclusion in the standard curriculum. For the sustainability of the project, both the web and the FB site are active as well as the YouTube channel. In addition, the project is presented on the website www.kidmap.cz. The primary target group of children between the ages of 3 and 6 was involved in the whole project from the beginning. The first outputs from the selected video were tested by agreement in all types of kindergartens, 6 in the Czech Republic - Prague, Brno, Zlín (state, private, alternative), where the essence of the story, its visual processing and text comprehension were tested. Consequently, the children at home with their parents fulfilled the task of coloring, which was based on the presented story. Based on feedback from the teachers, children and parents, we have modified and simplified the whole story, completing the emotions that children lacked (such as loud crying, tears ...). After the two tests, a final story emerged.
