Description

Availability of psychiatric care in the Czech Republic is unsatisfactory, psychiatry is under-financed and its development in comparison with most countries in the European Union is delayed. The objective of project is to contribute to the deinstitutionalization of psychiatric care in the Pilsen region by developing activities aimed at providing community based health and social services. Following activities will be implemented within the sub-project: Reinforcing material capacities of the multidisciplinary team and reinforcing personnel capacity of the multidisciplinary team. The output of the project will be a fully equipped a mobile multidisciplinary team, which includes medical specialists. Team of educated specialists, that operates on base of properly made written methodologies. The main target group of the project are mentally ill people in Pilsen region and their families.

Summary of project results

The sub-project objectives were: 1. Strengthen the material, personnel and professional capacity of a multidisciplinary team providing support to people with mental illness in the Pilsen region. 2. Set the internal and external policies of the multidisciplinary team. Ad 1. A multidisciplinary team with proper material and technical equipment and sufficient personnel capacity provides high-quality health and social services to psychiatric patients. Thanks to the implementation of the sub-project the access to quality health care for this target group has risen up. The multidisciplinary team provides community based services in the natural environment of the patient, outside the existing psychiatric hospitals. The sub-project supported deinstitutionalisation of psychiatric care in our region. Ad 2. Thanks to a multidisciplinary team clients benefited from comprehensive community-based services. It helped people with mental illness to stay in their natural environment despite their illness. Related social services helped to inclusion of people with mental illness and supported them to live their own life. The health and social community based care is also a basement for preventing complications of patients released from mental hospitals. Implementation of the sub-project helped to prevent relapses of mental illness of our clients. Within the sub-project the following activities were implemented: • Strengthening the material capacity of the multidisciplinary team: Within this activity, material and technical equipment was acquired to make the team mobile and flexible and able to provide services to clients in their natural environment. The equipment we bought, was: two cars - Škoda Fabia combi and Škoda Citigo, GPS navigation, notebooks. • Strengthening the human resources of the multidisciplinary team As part of this activity, there were health specialists employed in the team, team members participated in internships and seminars, methodology of provided services in accordance with current legislation was compiled. The output is a properly equipped and mobile team, which includes the health specialists. The multidisciplinary team is well trained, with the processes and methodologies described.
