Description
The purpose of the project is the reconstruction of the boiler-room, two shower rooms and increasing the facility equipment of the therapeutic community for the support of people with chronic mental illness – personality disorder – as well as the implementation of a new program “Short term DBT community” through the introduction of innovative method Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), within the Therapeutic community Kaleidoskop. The main goal of the project is to provide a stable community environment and to offer more quality and more effective preventive help and support to people with personality disorder, to create favourable conditions for quality life in society. The project objective will be achieved through a combination of 2 key activities and 2 supporting activities that together form a comprehensive community support for the provision of quality care help to mentally ill persons (key activities: 1. the renovation and equipment of facilities TC Kaleidoskop; 2 short term DBT community; Supporting activities: 3. the Publicity of the project; 4. Project and financial management). The target group of project are chronically mentally ill adults.
Summary of project results
The project was focused on support of persons with chronic mental illness - personality disorder, and its two main aims were: 1) To provide a stable community facilities for our clients and thus ensure their efficient recovery. 2) To implement a new progra, "Short term DBT community" and thus increase our clients´chance of long-term and sustainable participation in society. Both project aims were fully fulfilled in accord to the focus of the project. The facilities of TC Kaleidoskop were reconstructed and adjusted. Within the project implementation TC Kaleidoskop furnished and adjusted rooms for 8 clients and acquired new bathroom and kitchen equipment as well as equipment for group activities with clients. Two shover - rooms and the boiler - room were also reconstructed. A new program "Short term DBT community" based on innovative methods of Dialectical Behavor Therapy (DBT) was implemented. During the project period a total amount of 35 clients joined and 29 of them successfully completed the program or were in the proces of completing the therapy by the end of the project period. All the clients passed DBT training focused on gaining skills necessary for for the management of manifestations of personality disorder and string emotions as well as skills needed for everyday life. The program thus permitted to stabilize people with mental illness after their departure from medical institutions and to create plans for their follow - up care. The outputs of the project were: - Heating systém for the TC - Building of a boiler-roo m and of an autonomous heating systém for the facilities - Water heating systém for the TC - Acquring of in-house water tanks - TC sanitary facilities - reconstruction of the shower - rooms in the TC - TC furniture - Furnishing of rooms for the target group of clients, furnishing of bathroom and kitchen, purchase of equipment for group activities - DBT program - Short term DBT community
