Description

The project is focused on improvement of ways and quality of social and health services in the area of secondary prevention of health problems of children. The project plans to meet the goal through improvement of informational and therapeutic ways as well as training of relevant workers in these methods so they will be able to give the children and their families that kind of support. There will be a new therapeutic methods introduced. It is called Feldenkrais Method and Interactive Therapy of Autism by Mrs Romana Strausova. The partial aims of the project are education of workers in The Feldenkrais Method and The Interactive Therapy by Mrs Romana Strausová and their following application in care for children with a handicap and education of family members and professionals as well as non-professional public via discussions, workshops and conference including a film spot about the theme. Primary target groups are children with disabilities, their families, and other interested professionals and wide public.

Summary of project results

Project „Happy Childhood“ focused on improving access and quality of social and health services in the area of secondary prevention of the burden of diseases and health problems in childhood of clients of Slezska diakonie. This aim was achieved by improving the access to information and new therapeutic methods as well as further training of relevant workers in these methods so they are able to give support to children and their families. New therapeutic methods were implemented including the Feldenkrais Method and Dr. Strauss‘ Interactive Therapy for children with autism. Among the successful project activities were the following: education of relevant specialists (7 physiotherapist educated in the Feldenkrais Method, 3 social service workers educated in Dr. Strauss‘ Interactive Therapy); providing of Feldenkrais therapy (6 clients) and Interaction therapy (6 clients); recording and screening of a short movie about these therapeutic methods and their practical benefits; organizing seminars focused on primary, secondary and tertiary prevention for experts and general public; holding workshops focusing at primary, secondary and tertiary prevention for children with disabilities and their parents and organizing a conference where the results and impact of implementation of new therapeutic methods was presented. Further extension of these activities was supported by grant for complementary activies. The project contributed to the development of activities of Slezska Diakonie as non-governmental non-profit organization in the field of providing care for children with disabilities and autism. Another output of the sub-project was the support of secondary prevention of illness and health problems in childhood of children with disabilities and autism within the daycare centers of Slezska Diakonie in the town of Český Těšín and Bohumín.
