Description

There is missing comprehensive care of prevention of aftereffects caused by burn injury. The project is focused on establishing prevention and services for children, young people and their close relatives, who were injured by burn. The project aims at establishing preventive services, which will minimize or eliminate negative consequences of burn injury of children and young people. Project activities are following: 1) Social and psychological help and advisory services at burn clinics in Prague, Brno and Ostrava, 2) Social and psychological help and advisory services at Brno Advisory Center, 3) On-line internet advisory services at www.popaleniny.cz, 4) sessions and workshops for parents of children and young people after burn injury about after injury care, 5) 4 audiovisual spots about burn injury prevention. The primary target group of the project are children and young people who were burn. The secondary target group are parents of those children. The role of the partner "University Hospital in Brno - Department of Burns and Reconstructive Surgery" is to provide expert medical cooperation to the project promoter.

Summary of project results

The aim of the sub-project was to build prevention services to mitigate or eliminate the negative consequences of burn injuries in children and young people. The partial aim of the sub-project was to prevent and educate this type of injury and its consequences for the general public. The sub-project's goal was met. The services provided within the sub-project have ensured the return and inclusion of burned children and young people back into the ordinary society and minimized the social and psychological consequences associated with this type of accident. Five programs aimed at preventing child injuries, the consequences of illness and health problems in childhood were implemented. The main objectives of the sub-project were fulfilled by the following activities: 1. Socio-psychological support and counseling at the clinics of burn-out medicine 2. Socio-psychological individual support and counseling at the counseling center 3. Construction of the internet portal popaleniny.cz and online counseling 4. Workshops and seminars 5. Creation of awareness-prevention audiovisual spots 6. Traveling exhibition 7. Implementation of a preventive exhibition 8. Creating a Brochure "What will the future prove? Manual for those who have suffered a burn injury" Activity no. 1 was supported by 364 children, 394 parents, 122 young people, the total of 880 people Activity no. 2 is the implementation of 807 interview meetings lasting 30 minutes Activity no. 3 has built one portal and an internet portal www.popaleniny.cz Activity no. 4 of 15 workshops of one-day, 10 residential workshops and 5 preventive lectures Activity no. 5 created and published 4 videos Activity no. 6 realization of 13 exhibitions in all regional cities in the Czech Republic Activity no. 7 realization of 1 long-term exhibition at the Faculty Hospital in Brno Activity no. 8 production and distribution of 1500 brochures.
