Description

Health care for people with mental illness in the Czech Republic has been neglected, underfunded and under-developed for many years in relation to the needs of society. There are many different actors from the health and social sectors, which haven´t been sufficiently linked to each other yet. The project is focused on support and help to people with serious mental illness (SMI) diagnoses F2 - F6. (according ICD10). The aim of the project is to verify the functionality of the model of care for clients and patients with mental illness in the territory of the former districts of Pisek and Strakonice called Psychosocial community center Písek. The outcome of the project should be to create a model center operating in areas with at least 120,000 inhabitants. Testing of cooperation between the parties involved in the center and preparing for Phase II focused on expanding services PCC for continuous operation. Partner organization has own facilities and sufficient number of trained medical staff. Therefore, partner will secure the medical staff for the realization of the project.

Summary of project results

The aim of the sub-project was pilot verify the functionality of the model of the care for clients/patients with mental illness in the territory of the former districts of Písek and of Strakonice called Psychosocial community center for people with mental illness Písek (PSKCP) Since May of the 2015 is in full operation multidisciplinary team consisting of social workers of our organization and the medical staff of partner. They set rules for communication and cooperation. The team has premises ambulatory center and car for quick interventions in outdoor space. Since the beginning of the project there were more than 2000 contacts. The project was divided into three activities: 1. Preparatory work and team equipment with necessary equipment 2. Training of the team members 3. Own verifying the functionality of the model psychosocial community center for people with mental illness. Outcomes of the project: 1. Preparatory work and team equipment with necessary equipment 2. The output of this activity was the selection of suitable and equipped premises of future PSKCP. This is the background for a multidisciplinary team including accessories. (Office + standard equipment, reception/outpatient room - workroom nurses, day room - suitable for regular activities, consultations, therapeutic activities and team meetings) Other outputs was the purchase of necessary equipment of ambulance part of PSKCP, buying a car for terrain team PSKCP and purchase equipment for project implementation team. 3. Training of the team members 4. The output of this activity is completed courses in various team members involved in the project. Social workers were a basic course in crisis intervention and medical personnel Effective communication in social services. Together they attended supervision 5. Own verifying the functionality of the model psychosocial community center for people with mental illness. The output of this activity is functional and piloting a model of care for mentally ill clients in the form of Psychosocial community center ensuring the site with at least 120,000 inhabitants. The number of 1,750 contacts was exceeded by more than 23% (total of 2,160 contacts)
