Description

The main objective of the project is to increase the bilateral mobility of academic staff between the Charles University in Prague - 1st Faculty of Medicine and the Department of Clinical Science, University of Bergen. Project outcomes will include mobility activities: short-term stays and workshops in Bergen and Prague; discussions on current research and the preparation of a common manuscript for submission to peer-reviewed scientific journal summarizing the contribution of both partners and the advantages of their connection for current knowledge. During these activities participants from both sides will have the opportunity to increase their skills and competences, to share best practices and to get inspiration for future cooperation. We expect that this project will become the background for development of a long-term partnership in the field of education, research, improvement on cancer care in women with potential for further cooperation between the Czech Republic and Norway.

Summary of project results

The project was prematurely terminated due to unexpected death of coordinator in Norwegian partner institution (prof. Helga Salvesen). This event led to the lack of team leadership on partner´s side and they needed time for consolidation with limited ability to extend and continue collaboration for couple of months. However, we were able to realize three visits from Czech partner to hosting institution in Norway (University of Bergen). All these three stays were valuated highly by self-evaluation.

Summary of bilateral results

Three short-term stays were realized to monitor the field and to trigger joint research. However, the stay realized led to deepening of collaboration. We started to work on two future projects: individualization of treatment in endometrial cancer -- the need and extend of lymphadenectomy -- based on molecular markers; and use of modern imagin methods for individualization of surgical treatment of pelvic tumors.
