Description

This project is aimed on the quality improvement of teacher education via exchange of experience in the domain of biology didactics and comparison of educational approaches in the Czech Republic and Norway. The project will be realized using mobility i.e. short (one-week) educational stays of four Czech teacher educators in Norway (NTNU) and the short stay of one university teacher from Norway in the Czech Republic (University of South Bohemia). The collaboration is based on previous work in the frame of European project S-TEAM aimed on implementation of inquiry principles in education. This project will contribute to the solving of main problems in biology education which are reflected in biology didactics e.g. lack of interest in science (biology), lots of information in individual biology branches, the use of inquiry principles etc.

The project was realized using short (oneweek) stay of four Czech teacher educators in Norway (NTNU) and short stay of two university teachers from Norway in the Czech Republic at University of South Bohemia (JU). The collaboration was based on previous work in the frame of European project S-TEAM aimed on implementation of inquiry principles in education. Main benefits of this project: Possibility to compare pre-gradual and post-gradual teacher preparation in the Czech Republic and Norway Comparison of similar educational problems and ways of solving of these problems - mainly in teacher education. Possibility to discuss next way of collaboration between partners - research, educational projects etc. Opportunity to establish relationship among people which are oriented to similar problems in science education. Comparison of actual published works Possibility to familiarize with environment and historical background of regions around participating universities. It is necessary for understanding of educational goals and procedures.

Summary of bilateral results

Study visits with shadowing were the main output of this project. Two study stays were planned for four staff members from JU and one staff member form NTNU. Finally, one staff member from NTNU was added (without additional financial requirements) and six persons together were involved to study visits. The visit of staff members from JU at NTNU was held since 24. to 29. April 2016. Staff members from NTNU visited JU since 6. to 10. June 2016. All staff members were participated on seminars with staff at partner’s institutions and with students (shadowing). Minimal projected numbers of shadowed lectures and seminars was increased during visits.
