Description

The aim of this project is to establish a collaboration with UiT the Arctic University of Norway and Norwegian Research Institute (NORUT) in Tromso, Norway to write research proposal within analytical/environmental chemistry together. We are currently developing methods for non-target analyses of emerging chemical compounds at RECETOX, Masaryk University. To do this, we want to collaborate with partners with strong skills in identification of new compounds. UiT the Arctic University of Norway and NORUT have a great expertise in this field and a collaboration with them will strengthen our research at RECETOX. A fellow project proposal about identification of new compounds and non-target analyses will give us more information about toxic compounds in our food, indoor environment and in humans.

Summary of project results

Pernilla Carlsson successfully conducted her research stay at UiT -The Arctic University of Norway and NORUT (Norwegian Research Institute). Together with Dr. Terkel Hansen (UiT) and Dr. Terje Vasskog (NORUT), she coordinated a research proposal which includes several Norwegian institutes and RECETOX. The proposal is submitted to Norwegian Research Council, applying for "Svalbard Strategic Grant". The proposal is called "Pharmaceuticals in the Svalbard environment –occurrence and possible impact; SvalPharm" and, if funded, will include one workshop in Tromsoe followed by field work on Svalbard where pharmaceuticals in sewage water will be samples and analysed. The proposal includes travelling for two persons from RECETOX and hence, an even stronger collaboration link with Norway will be established. In addition, ongoing work at RECETOX was presented by Dr. Carlsson at the conference "FRAM science days" in Tromsoe, 10-11th of Nov.
