Description

The basis of this project is job shadowing organized for teachers of nursing, for international coordinators and for management (preferably Heads) of both schools. Four Czech teachers will go to the partner school in Reykjavik to shadow Icelandic colleagues during May 2016, 4 Icelandic teachers will come to Liberec to shadow Czech partners in October 2015. Teachers of nursing will shadow their colleagues during theoretical and practical lessons of nursing at school environment and also in nursing institutions and organizations, for example in hospitals and Integrated Rescue System facilities. International coordinators will focus on the possibilities of future cooperation between schools and they will discus the opportunities for students to get experience abroad. The managers of both schools will concentrate on school management, on school curricula and ways of overcoming obstacles.

Summary of project results

The basis was job shadowing organized for teachers of nursing, for international coordinators and for management of both schools. Four Icelandic teachers went to Liberec to shadow Czech partners in November 2015, four Czech teachers went to Reykjavik to shadow Icelandic colleagues during April 2016. Teachers of nursing shadowed their colleagues during lessons of nursing. International coordinators focused on the possibilities of future cooperation and they discussed the opportunities for students to get experience abroad. The managers concentrated on school management, curricula and ways of overcoming obstacles. We shared experience and got new inputs for our professional development, discussed issues concerning ways of nursing care. We will share new findings and knowledge with other teachers. We believe that shared knowledge will contribute to enrichment of us - participants, and also of our colleagues. We learnt about the structure of hospital training scheme, got inspiration from methods used for maintaining the quality of education and educational standards. We got the wider view of international possibilities for students - studies, courses, jobs, camps and volunteering. We will hopefully extend this mobility project by follow-up cooperation - by students’ mobility and by school cooperation project. Teachers, international coordinators and nurses – all of us deal in compliance with moral principles and principles of social behaviour and we contribute to assertion of democratic values. We teach our students to consider the value of life, to be aware of their own responsibility for life and co-responsibility for providing health safety and security of them and of others. We pay attention to students´ understanding for traditions and values of their nation, for comprehension of history and presence of their nation in European and world context. They are encouraged to support regional, national and world cultural values and to create a positive attitude towards them. Every pedagogue feels necessity of needs saturation – personal development and career growth; need to apply his professional knowledge, need of updated source of information, need of sharing experience. This mobility was one of the ways to meet these needs.

Summary of bilateral results

We will spread our experience, share ideas with other teachers from our schools which might lead to higher sustainability. We will be in touch with our partner to develop another way of cooperation. The main objective was a mobility of persons dealing with nursing education to share experience and to get new inputs for their work. The goal was their professional development and gaining information about issues concerning ways of nursing care - active care and follow-up care. The next goal was to get to know about methods of care standardization, about safety and security codes, about facilities and equipment of the partner school and about possibilities of further education and career development. The goal was to gain good practices. This shadowing and good practices will help us to enhance our skills and our competences and we will be able to share new findings and knowledge with other teachers. We believe that shared knowledge will contribute to enrichment of not only us,participants, but, later, of other colleagues. The beneficiaries were involved equally. Both partners prepared, realised and evaluated a programme for the partner, we both evaluated the whole project in April in Iceland. Main benefit was sharing experience - experience from nursing lessons, from hospital training, from school management, experience about financing - how nurses can reach their goals by reasonable demands, sharing information from international projects. We found out that in some ways the nursing education is very similar, e.g. equipment in school nursing classrooms but in some ways it is quite different, e.g. evaluation and credit system. Except these professional questions on both sides there were lots of questions - cultural, historical, questions about ways of living, ecology, nature etc. which were answered right away. The donor partnership achieved the efficient cooperation between the two teams of teachers from both schools not only during the periods of mobilities but also during the whole project time.
