Description

The project MIDPOINT/ Iceland - Midnight Sun Script Development Workshop addresses the current need in Island for partnerships that will supplement and cultivate the trainings in the field of film education, as well as create opportunities for emerging Icelandic film talent abroad. The project partners are the Film and TV School (FAMU) from the Czech Republic and Icelandic Film School from Iceland. The main aim is to organize a joint workshop on script development and master classes, to strengthen mutually human capital and know-how there and thus to promote and encourage the mobility of film students, trainers and professionals between Iceland and the Czech Republic. The result of the project will be Czech-Icelandic networking within the film industry and new bilateral cooperation agreement with the aim to institutionalize and strengthen previous cooperation of both schools, which would be beneficial for the students as the main target group of the project.

The project MIDPOINT/ Iceland - Midnight Sun Script Development Workshop was an adequate response to the need in Island for partnerships that will develop the trainings in the field of film education, as well as create opportunities for emerging Icelandic film talent abroad. The project partnerships consisted of the Film and TV School (FAMU) from the Czech Republic and Icelandic Film School from Iceland. The main aim was to organize a joint workshop on script development and master classes, to strengthen mutually human capital and know-how there. Through the joint workshop for Czech and Icelandic students project supported the mobility of film students, trainers and professionals between Iceland and the Czech Republic. The final result of the project is a functional Czech-Icelandic networking within the film industry and new bilateral cooperation agreement which established fruitful cooperation and which is beneficial for students of both schools in future.

Summary of bilateral results

The partnership was concluded with the prospect of a closer collaboration between the two institutions and its purpose was to organise a joint workshop for Czech and Icelandic students that would widen the portfolio of the courses offered by the IFS. The workshop satisfied both the students and tutors, as planned. The information concerning the project (the partnership, the workshop participants, their projects and tutors) was published on the MIDPOINT website and was accessible to relevant target groups. The partnership has thus fulfilled the project aim, the planned outputs and results. Nevertheless the long-term plans for collaboration defined in the project depend on the limited financial resources of the IFS and on the strategic aims of the new management of FAMU
