Description

Based on the accomplishments of this project we would endeavor to develop research projects which are dealing with other municipalities in the Czech Republic and Norway in the future and seek funding from the European Union, and the Research Council of Norway. Finally, we would able to establish students and teachers exchange through the progarm Erasmus +. Also in the future we would like to organize summer school either in Prague or in Horten as an extension of this research project. The summer school will particularly focus its attention on Accounting and Budgeting Innovations in the Local Governments. Our joint project could be used as trigger of further joint research projects in other disciplines such as Management, Marketing and Supply Chain Management.

Summary of project results

This inter-institutional research-development project between University of Economics, Prague and Southeast University College of Norway aimed at investigating the accounting practices in selected municipalities in the Czech Republic and Norway and specifically carrying out qualitative research on new methods of budgeting in the public sector in the local governments of these two countries. Other outcome of the project is a constructed handbook with recommendations for the local governments how better to work with the third sector in the project partners countries. The main benefits of the projects were teaching mobility, conferences, handbook for the municipalities, cooperation with the local governments, enriching research capacity of the universities in the aforementioned areas. The project partners will continue in cooperating through Erasmus Plus agreement in the future.

Summary of bilateral results

The Norwegian partner was looking for suitable partner in the Czech Republic who would like to do research in the area of Management Accounting and New Public Management.So, the whole project was initiated by the Norwegian partner.
