Description

Recent findings have revealed that the current risk management system is outdated and requires re-examination and implementation of new approaches based on the current state of the art. The proposed study targets this pressing issue and tests novel approaches and strategies in their ability to properly and reliably assess risk associated with contaminated soils and to efficiently and cost-effectively re-cultivate polluted areas. The project was planned in close cooperation with well experienced scientists from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences and the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute in order to get excellent results, increase my skills and competences, enhance cooperation and knowledge transfer between Czech and Norway institutions, and gain benefits of increased quality of human life and the environment. Since one of the proposed re-cultivation methodologies contributes to carbon sequestration, the project brings also the benefit of climate change mitigation.
