Description

The proposed project involves activities which should lead to intensive collaboration between the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of TUL and the Ostfold University College in the long term. The project facilitates the start of collaboration and via faculty leader meetings, the rules and conditions of the mobility agreements will be established. Simultaneously, both parties can present possibilities regarding education, study programs, international collaboration, teaching methods, domestic rules and laws, etc. Furthermore, the project provides a possibility to exchange students (Ph.D. or other students). and academic staff for a short time, in order to introduce research and educational activities on both sides. Therefore individual personal contacts will be created which help to sustain cooperation in the future. Furthermore the desired goal is joint research and educational projects between institutions as well as departments.

Summary of project results

The collaboration in education is a significant part of the Faculty’s strategies of the Czech partner for year 2014 and later. This faculty strategy is formulated in the institutional document which has been composed by faculty’s and university’s representatives. This document contains a specific part which supports the international collaboration and intensive student and academics staff exchange in the frame of Europe. Simultaneously it supports activities leading to the international research and education projects. This proposal project was applied in this project call because this kind of the fund enables to cover expenditures for two-country collaboration from which one country is located outside of the European Union. Consequently to apply a similar project in classical EU projects will be difficult because of EU country restriction. Based on the previous experiences at the TUL, Czech students prefer to study in Nordic countries such as Finland, Sweden or Norway. The Czech partner has a good experience in Erasmus student and academic staff exchanges with Sweden and Finland. In the past several students spent one or two semesters studying in Finland or Sweden. The Czech partner proposed a collaboration to the Norwegian partner institution Ostfold University College, respectively.

Summary of bilateral results

The overall objective of the project was to start an intensive collaboration and create a condition for Ph.D. student, bachelor (Ostfold University College) and academic staff exchange. Recently both institutions declared visible the both side interest for collaboration in "Letter of Intent". The activities such as education and research are similar providing great conditions for long term collaborations. At the Czech partners, approx. 5 departments from totally 11 departments will be participated in the project.
