Description

The project is based on the State Environmental Policy, it is linked to the Concept of the protection of nature of the South Moravian Region and it meets the selected objectives of strategic documents in the field of nature and landscape protection. The aim is to analyse the status and development of endangered tree species in the CR; to evaluate the representation of endangered species of selected groups of organisms in selected units; to participate in the continuous monitoring and evaluation of the areas in collaboration with the government (AOPK) and the project partner; the constant updating of the database AOPK; to use the results in the processing of the Red Book of trees and the Czech Red List of Threatened Species of the individual units. Civil servants, public admin. staff will benefit from the implementation, as well as researchers, scientists and students. The project has no Donor partner.

Summary of project results

Essential prerequisites for the effective protection of organisms include the knowledge of population widening, vitality and ongoing trends. For many species, especially tree species, the necessary data was missing or minimal. The project aimed to find out the most needed data and to create red lists on them and to determine the degree of threat. Based on this, it would be possible to propose the necessary legislative changes. It is possible to say that within the project the knowledge of two studied areas (Biosphere Reserve Dolní Morava and School Forestry at Křtiny) was improved, even among groups of organisms which are not given such attention. Particularly in the case of tree species, data on the occurrence of herbarium and literature species was collected and a database was created. A large amount of data has been gathered at one place that is otherwise difficult to access. Their inclusion in the AOPK finding database will be made available. The advantage is also the fact that the herbarium items have been reviewed. The above-mentioned data (descriptive and spatial) will be primarily serving to the professional public and nature and landscape conservation authorities at all levels. On the other hand, the four published red books are also intended for the general public and have a popularizing character (familiarizing them with the problems of the species and their protection). For the same purpose, the map and the pexeso serve. Within the project, seminars focused on this issue were organized. These were intended for both lay and professional public. The popularization functions of the seminars were mainly limited to their duration. Books delivered to libraries, universities, nature conservation authorities, etc. will continue to serve as a source of information. The obtained data will be used by the investigator in further research.
