Description

Women and children, victims of domestic violence do need psycho and social protection to overcome the effects of violence and to be provided with safe environment for recovery, while they need to be informed about their rights and to be provided with social and legal defense to solve the problems, which could be realized in a “Crisis Center”. By making a crisis center the project contributes to achieve the objective: “Provide quality protection for the victims and services for the victims and the perpetrators of domestic violence” from Section IV “Protection, recovery and reintegration of the victims of domestic violence/work with the perpetrators” by The National Program for prevention and protection from domestic violence for 2014. The project aims at providing support for personal and social realization of victims of domestic violence and gender- based violence. On order to provide the necessary support it is envisaged to establish a Crisis center in Aksakovo municipality for women, parents and children- victims of domestic violence. The Center will create adequate conditions for accommodation of the victims of domestic violence, and will make it possible to provide them the necessary help and professional support. The services that will be provided in the Crisis center are : - accommodation and human protection - capacity for 8 person - information services for Roma women - psychological and legal support/consultations - developing of social abilities - social mediation and advocacy - Consultation on empowerment/social reintegration Target group of this project are victims of domestic and gender-based violence.

Summary of project results

Women and children, victims of domestic violence do need psycho and social protection to overcome the effects of violence and to be provided with safe environment for recovery, while they need to be informed about their rights and to be provided with social and legal defense to solve the problems, which could be realized in a “Crisis Center”. With the financial support of Norway grants was established and operated a Crisis centre for temporary accommodation and professional support for victims of domestic violence in Aksakovo Municipality . The centre has provided accommodation and human protection, information services for (Roma) women, psychological and legal support, support during the process of finding a job, consultations, social reintegration, social mediation and advocacy, developing of social abilities. Within the project 17 persons (13 children and 4 women) were accommodated in the crisis centre and benefited from the provided services. Over 70 women including Roma received information and consultations on domestic violence and the opportunities to receive help and support. The services provided (information, consultation, etc..) will have lasting impact on the target groups, considering raising the awareness of the individuals about their rights, places for protection and the various forms of assistance and support. After completion of the project the Crisis Center will continue to operate. The victims of domestic violence will continue to receive support and help.
