Description

The project aims to promote cultural dialogue, cultural identity and diversity through the creation of a contemporary art multimedia installation to be presented to the broader public. The project also aims to contribute to expand art to peripheral areas with 11 presentations in eight cities throughout Bulgaria, including five locations with large Roma population. It further aims to expand the range of people participating in the creation of art. Contemporary art is not popular. Very few performances are presented across the country. Synthetic art forms are not used or don’t have a strong social message. Community centers are intrinsic to Bulgarian history but have difficulties in adapting to current challenges. The project addresses all these issues and offers an innovative approach to the problems by creating a modern multimedia installation with the strong social message of inclusion and acceptance. The process of acceptance goes from the perception of Them as strangers and through knowing them to accept the others as part of Us. The project goal is the transition from They to We. The expected results are the creation of a multimedia installation, the National Photography Campaign, the accumulation of at least 200 photos sent by the target groups, the composed music by the Norwegian partner Vess Ray Vesselin Radev Radulov, the production of flexible metal construction, the acquisition of multimedia projector; the creation of a facebook and web site of the project; 8 Roma cultural mediators trained; improved intercultural and multiethnic dialogue; sustainability of the project after the closing of the project; arriving at new audiences; demonstrated a new approach to multiethnic issues; and including Roma representatives in visiting a modern art event. The project targets Roma representatives, children of school age, young people, community centers, and the general public, the media, and the authorities.

Summary of bilateral results

Ves, Ray, Sveio, Norway. Ves Ray is the Norwegian project partner. He composes the music on the visual design by contributing exclusively to the powerful impact of the installation. Since the idea of the installation is to isolate all the senses except sight and hearing, music remains a major component of the impact of the work. Composite music is contemporary, influential and gives a universal supernational sound of the project.
