Poland: Launch of the NGO programme and matchmaking event
The Stefan Batory Foundation and the Polish Children and Youth Foundation are organising an opening conference of the NGO programme in Poland 'Citizens for Democracy' on September 18-19 in Warsaw. The conference will be accompanied by matchmaking workshops to develop and strengthen cooperation between Polish NGOs and NGOs from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.
The Citizens for Democracy programme is financed under EEA Grants. The amount of funds available for the NGOs in Poland is € 37 million and it will be distributed among non-governmental organisations working in the following areas:
- civic participation
- public scrutiny
- combating discrimination
- counteracting exclusion
- children and youth.
The programme will support capacity building activities and further development of the entire civil society sector in Poland. It will also support development of bilateral cooperation between Polish NGOs and entities from donor states.
It is expected that over 200 members of non-governmental organisations and institutions from Poland, Liechtenstein, Iceland and Norway will participate.
