Description
The purpose of the Project is education, demonstration and research in sustainable environmental solutions including renewable energy, water use and local biodiversity, with the overall objective of increasing the use of renewable energy, wastewater management and safeguarding biodiversity. Reference is made to the application, dated 1 June 2006, and response to the appraisal report both from the Focal Point and the Project Promoter received from the Focal Point per e-mail on 3 October 2006. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: - planting of trees, building footpaths and posting billboards; - refurbishment/conversion of the existing building to a dormitory and class rooms; - installation of water treatment facility and upgrade of water collection installations; - installation of renewable energy based electricity production. The Project Promoter is the Nature Trust (Malta). A partnership has been established between the Project Promoter and the University of Malta, which will be responsible for the renewable energy installations and research. The Project Promoter shall provide at least 12.27 percent of the estimated eligible Project cost.
