Description

Most of the inhabitants affected by autism and connected disabilities are dispersed in institutional type of services. Parents and motivated professionals started process of alternative care for autistic children in Slovakia. The objective of this project is to improve the quality of services in Community centre and positive influence of broader public towards people with autism. Main achievement is to increase the independence of clients of the centre by implementation of new methodology of Individual Development Plans- IDP. This methodology is developed in close cooperation with Norwegian partner Autism Society Norway. Direct beneficiaries are 10 inhabitants of community Centre, municipality of Krajné, broader group of Slovak professionals involved in services for autistic people and wide public of Slovak inhabitants. Partnership with donor partner Autism Society Norway achieves personal progress of the clients and sharing of results in public.

Summary of bilateral results

Donor partner Autism Society Norway as experienced umbrella organisation helped NGO Drahuška a my...implement methodology of Individual Development Plan. The idea of the project was to support personal independence of persons with severe mental disability and autism (Low-functioning autism) with aim to create the ability in them to lead more independent life also out of community centre. This accomplished by professional cooperation with other organizations, professionals and parents of disabled people from Norway and Slovakia. Cooperation was realize in the form of personal visits of representatives of individual groups, realization of workshops, lectures and exchange of experiences and supervision from Norwegian partner. With professional help of the partner in this project they created individual development plans for 10 clients, which they realized in practice during 18 months. The result of the project was evaluation of their personal progress and efficiency of used methodologies and statements of professional recommendations. The results and progress were presented to families and then they were presented on public workshop, printed manuals, articles.
