Description

Investment project that will provide an environmentally sound solution to plastic waste management problems. This will result in increasing the collection and processing of recyclable plastic waste and thus lowering the demand for newly manufactured plastics. This reduces industrial activity that contributes to air pollution, as well as reducing pressure on landfills. Currently, the recycling process undertaken by the Project Promoter ends with the chopping stage. The new equipment will bring new products (plastic flakes, granulated flakes and film for different types of bags) and will offer new services (shredding and granulation) to the market. In this way, not only the environmental performance of the company will increase, but also its competitive advantage. Furthermore, the project will result in a superior skilled workforce in the collection, processing and recycling of plastic waste, that will include the participation of young workers, women and unemployed people. Through the public awareness campaign (that will be done among students, but also during the three project activities), the general public will be better equipped to participate in waste recycling.

Summary of project results

The project was based on the need of Romanian innovative companies to collect and process the used materials, promoting a new generation of waste management. The main objective of the project was to satisfy the environmental necessities of the plastic waste recycling. The concept provided a reliable guide for regenerating secondary plastic resources which lowers pollution and costs associated with the production and consumption of new plastic. The investment project consisted in the acquisition of a new full recycling line for shredding and granulating plastic waste, in order to produce new products which could be used as raw materials by company clients. By implementing the project, Devalex managed to develop a series of new green services, like metal separation service, plastic flakes recycling and plastic flakes granulation. 17 new jobs have been created during the project (4 permanent and 13 temporary jobs). Client portfolio increased with 16 companies.
