More information

Description

City illumination on current technical standards (Sodium, etc.) consumes too much electricity and does not provide optimal lighting effects. General objective of this project is to implement production of LED Street Lights on latest technical standards to cover evident demands with municipalities in and outside Romania. At the same time production facilities will be refurbished regarding insulation and sealing to reduce energy losses with climatisation. Equipment for generating energy from renewable sources will be placed there as well. And a loading station for e-cars will be implemented. Finally 20 new Green Jobs will be created in a rather weak developed area enabling yearly production of some 10,000 units. Partnership with Q-Free from Norway creates benefit for both sides by offering REOS the opportunity to extend their production to a new business filed, and guarantees to Q-Free availability of high quality products for their customers. Market access will be openeded this way likewise.

Summary of project results

City illumination on current technical standards (sodium, etc.) consumes too much electricity and does not provide optimal lighting effects. The project objective was to implement production of LED Street Lights on latest technical standards to cover evident demands with municipalities in and outside Romania. At the same time, production facilities were planned to be refurbished in order to reduce energy losses with climatisation. The use of the equipment for generating energy from renewable sources was also targeted by the project. Experimental development was conducted in cooperation with the Norwegian partner Q Free ASA, in order to make the LED Street Light relevant for the market and ready for production (alteration of the prototype, re-design, lamp unit, optimization). A new production unit for the LED Street Light was integrated in the current production facility of the Romanian company. The refurbishment and insulation and sealing measures helped the company to reduce energy losses, equip the production facility with various devices for generation of energy from renewable sources. A production capacity for the new product - LED street lamp - was established and over 12,000 pieces have been manufactured by the end of project implementation period. 31 new green jobs have been created through the project, using the labor market from a less developed region - South-Muntenia.

Summary of bilateral results

Main achievements on a bilateral level: - Coordination of all research and development activity within the "Green Light Drive", with the innovative LED lamp as result; – Close cooperation on technical problems in the design, redesign, prototype testing LED lamps; – Specialized training offered to REOS Production employees involved in research and development activity; – Joint participation in expositions (Amsterdam, Holland, April 2016). Bilateral funds contributed to the realization of direct links between project promotor and the Norwegian business partner Q Free ASA. The Norwegian partner has made an important contribution to research and development activity, Romanian specialists earning an intense training activity to ensure the transfer of know-how to obtain prototype LED lamp.
