Description

Increased waste collection performance of Vrancart Romania for optimization of the company's recycling value chain, as well as for a superior environmental performance. Approached on 2 levels: - physical extension of the waste collection network by 14 new collection centers in new regions of Romania, currently not covered by the company, along with proper endowment of this collection centers with specific equipment. - optimization of the collection capacity and leaning of the collection process, by developing and implementing an innovative software solution that will serve as a communication platform both externally, with the company's main suppliers of raw material, and internally for Vrancart, providing essential information and reports about, enhancing control over relevant operational aspects of both the collection process and the maintenance activities needed. Through the cooperation between Vrancart and its partners and the total novelty of this concept for the Romanian market, the project will initiate a new trend on the whole Romanian market of waste management and recycling services.

Summary of project results

The project scope was to increase the waste collection performance of Vrancart Romania, as a prerequisite for the optimization of the company's recycling value chain, as well as for a superior environmental performance. The realisation of this scope was approached on 2 levels: - physical extension of the waste collection network for a better coverage at national level, by opening new waste collection centres in new regions of Romania, along with the specific equipments needed for the operation of these new centres; - optimization of the collection capacity and leaning of the collection process, by implementing a dedicated informational and communication system with benefits for the whole value chain of the company. The main benefits obtained after the project implementation were: - significantly wider waste collection network - from 15 centers currently to 25 centers after implementation - shorter waste collection time through better communication with the supplier and better fleet management/ routes planning; - reduce operational expense with the waste collection and transport to the headquarter with 15% - 75% increase of the own collection capacity of Vrancart - Increased independency regarding the own supply with the raw material (paper and cardboard waste) vs. external suppliers of raw materials (companies collecting paper waste for Vrancart) from a ratio of 45% vs. 55% up to 95% vs. 5%. This will lead to a decrease in the total cost/ unit/ product of 3,5%. - Increase by 20% of the monthly waste recycling output (to/ month)- production of new paperboard, sanitary paper and corrugated cardboard, as a result of the superior waste collection performance. - superior efficiency of the collection process enabled by the new communication platform, leading to a collection volume increase potential (additional to the increase effect generated by the collection) of 8,5%.
