Description

The project aims to stimulate the inter-ethnic interaction, on all levels (meetings, discussions, creative workshops, cultural events) and to stimulate the interes for education of the children in the community, by involving 50 children (Roma and non-Roma, respecting gender equality)in creative program of communication, collaboration and education, including a creative camp and a series of non-formal education workshops, monthly held for 6 months. By involving the children in the Bontida community, but also their families, in common actions within the camp, we build the basis of a harmonious growth and development of the children, creating a new generation which doesn’t accentuate the ethnical differences, but embraces them. By the direct and mediated interaction, the community can find the opportunity to find solutions and instruments to solve their problems, be it inter-ethnical, social or economical.

Summary of project results

The project aimed to enhance inter-ethnic interaction and to stimulate children’s interest for education, by involving them into a creative networking programme. Therefore, 50 Roma and non-Roma children, aged between 6 and 10 years actively participated in the educational creative and non-formal workshops that focused on communication, collaboration inter-ethnic and non-formal education. The project offered the possibility to attend theatre workshops, dance and music workshops, handcraft workshops, and 2 painting workshops. The IT workshops offered a 27 hour course for each of the 50 beneficiaries. All these workshops and classes helped also creating new connections and interethnic interactions among children. At the same time, 100 Roma people from Bontida (Cluj County) have featured in a number of inter-ethnic talks, meant to create a better communication channel between Roma and non-Roma population. In addition, they are parents or relatives of children integrated into the project activities, thus giving an impulse to the process of increasing the level of education that the children can achieve. In addition, 20 representatives of local authorities and local business benefited from local interactions, in order to find out the local problems they didn’t know about, and to try identifying solutions for them.
