Description

The project is part of the strategy of revitalizing basketry as a field of craft, carried out by the Serfenta Association since 2009. It responds to the need of urgent inventory, popularization and education of the basketry and is based on the partnership which will strengthen the relationships between Poland and Norway. Outcomes: documentation of work of basketmakers; improving the skills of promoters of basketry; international conference and artistic outdoor weaving; 4 presentations of the exhibition; weaving workshops. Impact: a significant increase of interest in cultural heritage issues; animation of the environment centered around crafts; increased interest in crafts of local communities, government; open new perspectives for promotion of handicrafts. Target groups: traditional basketmakers; participants of cultural events; cultural institutions, universities and art schools; artists, craftsmen, handicraft instructors; scientists, ethnologists, organizers of international events connected with basketry.

Summary of bilateral results

Sunnhordland Museum: project's coordination in Norway (mainly organizational aspects); realization of exhibition (including production of its duplicate) and organization of workshops in the Museum, organization and promotion of the exhibition and workshops, realization of payments according to the project's budget. Sore Skogen: expert coordination in Norway, realization of ethnographic research in Poland and Norway, cooperation in realization of the artistic outdoor weaving and conference, involvement in creation of the publication, promotion of Norwegian heritage in Poland, promotion of the project in Norway during the project and after.
