There is lack of quality information and services on sexual and reproductive health for different groups of people, especially disadvantaged. The project will focus on universal rights of reproductive and sexual health, ensuring access to qualitative services to everyone so that the reproductive choice be based on evidence-based information. Sustainability of the organization will be ensured by fund raising, involvement of volunteers, cooperation with other NGO’s. Main activities: surveys, development and publishing informative educational materials, adaptation of experiences from other organizations working in the field, individual consultations, trainings, incl. volunteers, networking with other NGO’s, fund raising. Main results:increased access to services, rights and information of the target groups, improved cooperation with other NGO’s, strengthened sustainability. Summary of project results
In the framework of the Work programme financed through the EEA programme “NGO Fund” Latvia’s Association for Family Planning and Sexual Health has implemented and supported several activities and ensured its sustainability. Special attention was drawn on activities targeting and involving groups of population which rights are restricted, violated and limited for different reasons, especially in sexuality and reproductive health aspect. Among them are persons with learning disabilities, young persons in prison settings, adolescents from the roma minority, persons involved in prostitution and several others. “Papardes zieds” has worked to maintain in public and political discussions the value of evidence based approach, which was extremely hard in context of the populistic tendency of growing neglect ion of sexuality. Main achievements during the period of implementation of the Work programme have been: -Experts from the “Papardes zieds” have participated in 38 work groups at ministries and parliament commissions, 64 individual meetings with MPs and ministries officials and 6 opinions formulated on state policies regarding SRHR. -2 years long monthly public discussions held on different issues regarding sexuality and reproductive health. -A new approach tested in praxis: stop-motion films shut, altogether they have collected more than 65 000views on internet. -Coalition of NGOs and interested experts established to advocate for sexual and reproductive health and rights “Papardes zieds” has continued its work together with other civil society organizations on securing democracy and respect of human rights in Latvia. Support of the NGI Fund has been important for securing the sustainability of the organization.
