Description

The project aims to develop training programs for professional audiences about climate change, greenhouse gas reduction, using the renewable energy resources in order to increase the target group knowledge and capacity to promote public involvement in the implementation of policies related to climate change adaptation. Training programs will be applied to training of different industries professionals as well as representatives of local governments, technical and environmental educators and the general public because it contains themes which are relevant and related to climate change and adaptation to climate change. Developed and prepared leaflets about renewable energy will provide an opportunity to address the audience and other stakeholders to understand how the use of RES can mitigate climate change, which is necessary for the production of renewable energy and sensible treat of the environment. Developed materials will be able to improve the first-level professional higher education training modules in the natural sciences and technical subjects. Project partner from Norway is Norsk Energi - a consulting company, with large experience in different projects. Partner will participate in project conferences in Latvia to provide experience and information exchange.

Summary of project results

Project aim was to develop and organize training courses for professional audiences about prevention of climate changes and reduction of greenhouse gases (GHG) using renewable energy sources (RES) in order to increase the target group knowledge and capacity to promote public involvement in the fight against climate change and the implementation of policies related to climate change adaptation. In order to achieve the objectives of the Project, training and practical seminars to professional audiences about climate change and GHG reduction from RES was developed. In addition, informative materials for training were developed. Prepared leaflets contain themes which are relevant and related to climate change and adaptation to climate change. It is expected that teachers with developed materials will be able to improve the first level professional higher education training modules in the natural sciences and technical subjects such as "environmental sciences", "green thinking", etc. Project target groups included municipal governments, government employees, environmental experts, and control services, agricultural consultants and support institutional executives, the relevant part of industry vocational and higher education teachers, etc. The training program was applied to the training of more than 5 different industries professionals (environmental professionals, project developers, farmers, employees of the energy industry, etc.) as well as representatives of local governments, technical and environmental educators and the general public.

Summary of bilateral results

Project partner Norsk Energi is Norway’s leading consulting firm on energy, environmental and security issues, mostly taking part in projects related to the facilitation of renewable energy resource use, energy consumption and cutting the amount of harmful emissions. The company also works on international projects that relate to climate change. Partner took part in project opening and closing conferences, provided an exchange of experience, collaboration and additional information for leaflets.
