Description

The association for Roma Education - UZOR from Municipality Orehovica, Međimurje County will launch a project that will be aimed to collect demographic data of Roma population and conduct needs assessment of the youth in the Roma settlement Orehovica. The collected data will be published through Roma Atlas of Međimurje County, while youth needs assessment will give indicators to create a few psycho-social workshops of youth empowering in Roma settlement Orehovica. The youth participants will be encouraged to formalize their proposals to local decision makers regarding to improvement of living condition of Roma population, and to monitor the success of their advocacy actions. The project will also create a web page of Roma settlement in Orehovica.

Summary of project results

As part of this action Association launched the following activities: the inclusion of young volunteers in making the social image of the Roma settlements Orehovica, running workshops for youth empowerment in the Roma settlement Orehovica, advocacy needs of young people from the Roma settlements Orehovica to the wider community (the decision makers at the level of municipalities and counties). Based on the data obtained from previous research, association organized the Roma settlement Orehovica following activities with young people:3 motivational half-day workshops on topics that have recognized the young as needed, development of a website on which to publish research data, but also work with young people and help in formulating requirements youth to decision makers.
