Description

The objective of the project is to promote democracy and the initiative of citizens in the region to increase the capacity of local NGOs. During the project, workshops will be held about involvement, event organizing, improving financial capacity and communication. There will be various interactive study methods used, which makes the workshops more practical and attractive for the target group. As a culmination of the project there will be 2 performances about Estonian historical rebellion. The partners for the project are Nordkalk Ltd and NGO Karame. Nordkalk is a co-financier of the project, and wants to support the development of the region and to contribute to promotion of cooperation. Karame will be assisting with project activities and would also like to contribute to regional development and cooperation.

Summary of project results

The main aim of the project was to promote democracy and initiative of citizens in the region to increase the capacity of NGOs by increasing coherence and integration, and reducing isolation, the willingness of trust and cooperation will be accomplished. As an outcome, the third sector and voluntary contribution is more active - civil society is empowered. The development skills and knowledge of the citizens about involvement, social activities, intersectoral collaboration, has increased, thanks to the community theatre performances and workshops. The project has been good role model for other municipalities, in case of developing collaboration across the borders. The project has improved the reputation of NGOs, increased the activity of NGOs. The self-consciousness and activity of citizens has increased and the reputation of the region has improved. In collaboration with the volunteers and activists there will be a follow-up project. The feedback of the volunteers for the workshops, rehearsals and performances was very good. Most of them are looking forward to the continuing projects and are willing to co-operate and be involved. The project has been beneficial, very exciting, connecting and empowering for the entire community, not only for the volunteers.
