Summary of project results

The aim of the project was to support young people with low levels of education in the continuation of their education and in the making of career choices or the development of readiness to enter the labour market after basic school.

As a result of the project, vocational orientation training programmes  were developed and carried out at the Pärnu County Vocational Education Centre. Through years 2021-2024, altogether 86 students studied in a shorter 30 EKAP programme, 45 of them finished the whole programme and 11 students studied in a longer 60 EKAP programme, 6 of them finished the whole programme. One study group of 10 children was put together of Ukrainian refugees.

88 students have voiced their opinion to carry on with the studies or move on to the labour market.

Partner Hiiumaa Vocational School was not able to assemble a vocational oreintation programme study group and terminated the project partnership in 2022. Pärnu County Vocational Education Centre took over Hiiumaa''s responsibilities and increased the programme scope in Pärnu.

Pärnu County Vocational Education Centre will continue the vocational orientation programme in 2024/2025 with a 25-student study group. The school partners up with Unemployment Fund, educational support network "Rajaleidja", Pärnu elementary schools as well as Pärnu county youth mental health centre.

Vocational orientation programme has proven successful in helping and guiding youth with learning disabilities (educational special needs) in coping with school, learning and finding a suitable profession to learn. The programme also provides support modules in Estonian language, mathematics, English language. Extra module is developed for students whose mother tounge is not Estonian to improve their skills in Estonian. Different optional subjects  give the students a smoother opportunity to move into the labour market (e.g seasonal HORECA sector).
