Description

In 2013, Ruse Municipality realised successfully the project "Introduction of energy efficiency measures in seven school buildings in the territory of Ruse", financed under Operational Programme for Regional Development 2007-2013 and the project "Implementation of energy efficiency measures in Nezabravka – 2 Nursery School", financed under the National Trust EcoFund. As a result of the taken energy efficiency measures and performed activities, the learning conditions have been modernised through achieving an eco-friendly environment by decreasing the quantities of harmful emissions, noises and gases; improving the quality of the living and working environment; established municipal educational infrastructure with high level of energy efficiency; achieved positive ecological effect through the decrease in the emissions of greenhouse gases. The current project proposal builds upon these projects by contributing to the performance of the recommendations in the reports for energy efficiency survey of the buildings. As a result of the interventions in the project proposal, the installations in the building will be modernised, which will have a significant impact on: the learning conditions; the attractiveness of the learning infrastructure; it will have a beneficial impact on the environment through the decrease in the emissions of CO2 in tonnes per year.

Summary of project results

The main goal of the project to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by implementing energy efficiency measures in four municipal buildings that are part of the educational infrastructure of Ruse had been achieved. As a result of the interventions the installations in the buildings were modernised, which has a significant impact on: the learning conditions; the attractiveness of the learning infrastructure; it will have a beneficial impact on the environment through the decrease in the emissions of CO2 by 106,16 tonnes per year. Site Lyuben Karavelov Primary School - The project realisation achieved the following: - Branch of the internal heating system supplying the rooms and installation of aluminium radiators with thermal valves in the rooms and a fan convector for the cafeteria; - Ventilation system supplying normative microclimate in the internal room, including a suction installation with a centrifugal duct fan and floor-mounted pressure installation with an air handling unit (AHU). Site Nezabravka 2 All-Day Nursery School - The project realisation achieved the establishment of a new internal heating system /IHS/ with lower distribution and an independent circulation pump with a three-way mixing valve. Site Nikola Obretenov Primary School - The project realisation achieved the following: - Built new close-type system with hydraulic separation of the heat generators and consumers; - Constructed new façade-wise distribution to the heaters (eastern and western façade) through mixing circuits with control in accordance with the outdoor temperature and the temperature in the reference room; - Replaced old cast-iron and steel radiators with new aluminium radiators. Preservation of the existing aluminium radiators. Installation of thermostatic heads on all radiators in the continually used rooms; - Replacement of the defective boiler GNV 1000 with a new hot-water gas boiler and building independent circulation circuits for the two boilers with provision of minimum temperature of the supplied water. Site St. Constantine-Cyril the Philosopher Secondary School of European Languages – The project realisation achieved the following: Built new indoor heating system /IHS/ with lower distribution and independent circulation pump with a three-way mixing valve.
