Description

The purpose of the Project is to improve access to the Tres Turos and Güell parks by removing architectural barriers, and recovering spaces and increasing public green areas in the Carmel area, with the overall objective of improving the citizens' living conditions and access to cultural heritage. Reference is made to the application dated 14 September 2006, and to any subsequent correspondence with the Focal Point. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: - studies outlining safety measures in public spaces, accessibility and removal of architectural barriers; - procurement; - removal of architectural barriers along Santuari street and Alguer street, including the purchase and installation of escalators, a lift, low voltage lighting, landscaping/tree planting, etc.; - recovery of public spaces in the Santuari street area, including urban tree planting, the purchase of street furniture, etc.; - urban public safety measures along sections of Murta street and Fastenrath street, including the extension of sidewalks, the reinforcing and containing of selected terrains, etc.; and - publicity activities. The Project Promoter is the Agencia de Promocío del Carmel i Entorns, S.A. The Focal Point shall ensure that the Barcelona City Council provides at least 55.87 percent of the estimated eligible Project costs.
