The man behind the video, Ruben Doblas Gundersen, is half Norwegian. Under the name ‘Elrubius’ he shares personal views on everything from computer games to society, in his trademark outspoken and playful style. This social media sensation has caught the attention of several media outlets, like the Spanish newspaper El País.
His YouTube channel is Spain’s most popular with more than 5.3 million subscribers. On behalf of the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Madrid, he made a video showcasing Norway as a potential destination for Spanish students, including the the Scholarship Fund. It became an instant hit, and so far more than 2.2 million viewers have seen the video. As a result, there has been a considerable upsurge in interest in the Spanish Scholarship Fund.
