Czech Research Support Fund

  • Through financial support to 79 projects, the € 4.8 Czech Research Support Fund aims to promote academic research and contribute to the transfer of know-how between research teams from the Czech Republic and Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.

    Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway are supporting the Czech Research Support Fund with close to € 4.4, with the Czech government providing the remaining 9% of the fund.

    The overall objective of the fund is to contribute to the reduction of economic and social disparities and to strengthen cooperation and scientific networking between the EEA EFTA states and the Czech Republic. The fund supports academic research projects related to all priority sectors of the EEA and Norway Grants. Through 5 open calls, grants have been awarded to 79 projects.

    One example is the support to Czech and Norwegian scientists that cooperate to chart possible sites for future CO2 capture and storage in the Czech Republic.

    The purpose of the Fund is to promote academic research related to all priority sectors of the Financial Mechanisms through cooperation and the transfer of know how between research teams from the Czech Republic and the EEA EFTA states (Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein), with the overall objective of contributing to the reduction of economic and social disparities and to strengthen cooperation and scientific networking between the EEA EFTA countries and the Czech Republic. Reference is made to the application dated 3 April 2006, and additional information provided by the Focal Point on 7 August, 17 October and 2 November 2006, on 16, 20 and 26 April, 25 July, 6 and 20 September and, 2, 5 and 10 October 2007.



    The completed Fund shall include the following activities and results:

    - re-granting to end-recipients (for both research and expert exchange sub-projects);

    - Fund management and publicity.



    The Intermediary is the Národní vzdelávací fond (National Training Fund -NVF).



    The Focal Point shall ensure that the Ministry of Education shall provide at least 9.12 percent of the estimated eligible cost of the Fund.
