  • November launch of Estonia and Portugal NGO Funds

    November will see the establishment of two NGO funds supported by the EEA Grants: a €1 million NGO Fund in Portugal that aims to promote gender equality and help the young to become active citizens, and a €2.3 million Estonian NGO Fund supporting democracy and civil society, environment and sustainable development, and social integration and local development.

  • EEA Grants conference in Poland on regional policy

    A conference on the priority sector regional policy in Malbork and Gdañsk on 18 and 19 October put the shotlight on the important role of both the EU structural funds and the the EEA Grants in promoting regional growth in Poland.

  • Slovak seed money call closed

    A €350,000 call for seed money in Slovakia closed in late September and the national Focal Point is now busy assessing the 314 received applications.

  • Scholarships awarded to 16 young, Polish scientists

    The €1.2 million Polish HOMING Programme, set up to avoid Polish brain-drain, concluded its second award round on 9 October with a ceremony at Warsaw University that saw 16 young scholars living and working abroad receiving grants that will enable them to return to Poland.

  • Czech-Norwegian partner seminar on cultural heritage

    A joint Norwegian-Czech seminar held in Prague on 9 October put the spotlight on bilateral cooperation opportunities within the cultural heritage sector ahead of the upcoming €19.4 million final call for proposals in the Czech Republic under the EEA Grants.

  • First project starts under the Latvian NGO fund

    With the first of 38 project agreements signed on 20 September 2007 for the approved projects under the Latvian NGO Fund, the fund's manager is now busy concluding the remaining agreements from the first call for proposals and preparing a second call for NGO projects.

  • Romania and Bulgaria to recieve 140 million in cohesion funding

    Over the next two years, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway will provide €140 million to projects contributing to social and economic development in Romania and Bulgaria through the EEA Financial Mechanism and bilateral Norwegian cooperation programmes which are due to be launched in November 2007.

  • EU, Poland and Norway in high-level regional policy talks

    As part of European Commissioner Danuta Hubner’s three-day visit to Norway in late June, high-level representatives from the European Commission, Poland and Norway met on June 29 for policy discussions on regional development aboard the M/S Polarlys on its scenic route through the fjords of the Lofoten archipelago in Northern Norway.

  • July launch of three Czech programmes

    Three regions in the Czech Republic launched calls for proposals this month for local projects within cultural heritage, health and childcare and human resources development.

  • Seed money call launched in Slovakia

    Close to €350,000 in seed money was made available on 17 July to Slovak public administrations and non-governmental organisations , with small grants due to be awarded this autumn to applicants aiming to submit individual project applications in the €32.5 million call for proposals planned in Slovakia during spring 2008.
