The Hate Factor in Political Speech - Where do responsibilities lie?

The conference will focus on societal responses to populist speech and discriminatory or derogatory statements which are sometimes used by politicians for political gain.

This two-day conference on 18 and 19 September will bring together representatives of public authorities, parliamentarians, media and civil society representatives as well as key academics from Poland and from other member states of the Council of Europe.

The participants will be invited to examine in particular the role of the media in confronting the hate factor in political or public speech, including the specific opportunities and challenges on the internet. The conference will also offer an opportunity for participants to identify and discuss recommendations for further action.

The conference is organised by the Polish Ministry of Administration and Digitalisation and the Council of Europe in partnership with the EEA and Norway Grants.
