Conference: Fighting the trafficking of Syrian antiquities and Cultural Heritage for economic and social development in Bulgaria
The two-day conference in Sofia on cultural heritage will constructively discuss initiatives to stop illicit antiquities trade financing the Syrian conflict, and look at cultural heritage as a resource that can help to stimulate economic development and employment for vulnerable groups.
The conference will provide an arena for awareness raising, and will highlight the issue of cultural heritage for economic and social resilience and sustainability.
The conference is organised by the the Norwegian Institute for Cultural Heritage Research (NIKU) and the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Sofia, in partnership with UNESCO, the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture, the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus and "Walk of Truth".
The conference is supported by the EEA and Norway Grants through the bilateral fund at the national level.
